When Adelun, the small town the preceded Providence, was originally built things really started happening. Ghosts, demons, and other things from nightmares began to visit and terrify people. As the years went by, Adelun was more or less abandoned. Progress could not be stopped, however, and Providence came to be.
When the City of Providence was built it was an era of skeptics and non-believers so the strange things that happened were ignored, or explained away. Eventually the people could no longer turn a blind eye as they’re family members fell victim to the paranormal happenings. The few people who recognized a need for a combat force came up with the two factions; the Mortal and Medium Factions.
These two factions were built and together worked to combat the supernatural forces that plagued Providence. In the years proceeding the present Providence’s background was uncovered by these two factions; That Providence was built on "Holy" ground. Truth be told, the ground wasn’t holy, it was just soaked to the core in supernatural power, thus being occurring grounds for uncountable portals. The good news? These portals where small, and could not be enlarged except from the Mortal Realm. The small portals kept the greater part of the Supernatural Forces at bay: Kept them from invading the Mortal Plain.
Yet, now there are rumors of a person, or persons who wish to tear these portals open and unleash those forces held within on the Mortal World. So far who, or what has not been uncovered and the Factions are working to Monitor the portals. It is unknown whether their protection will be enough, but for now it is.
